Put your flat irons down curly girls! It’s starting to get humid and hot outside, so why even waste your time trying to achieve perfectly straight, frizz-free locks. It’s just not worth the time if you ask us.
Instead, aim for beach-worthy waves. Our friends at NaturallyCurly.com sent us some simple tips for achieving the most popular look this summer. Read on!
The least invasive and probably easiest method to create beach curls is simple braiding. Start with damp or wet hair, and braid into a single braid or several chunky braids. Let hair completely dry – typically overnight – and undo the braid. Voila! – instant beach waves. Smooth flyaways with oil, butter or moisturizing crème.
For shorter curls, try pincurls or knots to achieve a similar braid-effect.
Use large rollers at the ends to achieve a more voluptuous wave.
For a looser curl, try a Keratin treatment (a smoothing, not straightening process). Though hair will appear straighter at first, simply add your usual styling product and blow dry with a diffuser while scrunching hair.
Pravana offers a new Beach Wave process that provides long-lasting, soft, natural, undulating waves. This process uses Cysteamine, a natural amino acid that realigns the hair’s internal bonds to create a soft, sensuous wave.

Heidi Klum was out and about with her kids last week rocking a new shaggy short ‘do. This is a great look for any mom on-the-go. Short enough to cut styling time, but long enough to still manage a sexy swept up bun.
What are we saying?! Heidi could go bald and still be sexy. She can do no wrong in our book.

This just in…
Gossip Girl’s, Leighton Meester has just been named Herbal Essences global ambassador. If you ask us, it was only a matter a time before someone snagged the fashion forward beauty for a hair endorsement role. She’s known to take risks and try new things with her hair.
We hear that apparently Leighton was turned onto the brand by her own personal stylist, Charles Baker Strahan, who is also a celebrity stylist for Herbal Essences.
Leighton told WWD, “I would need Tousle Me Softly. That is one of my favorite products and it’s really a look that I love since my hair is stick straight.”

We came across this picture of Keri Russell from a red carpet event she attended a couple weeks ago. Let me start by saying what a relief it is to see a celeb out in public, walking the red carpet nonetheless, with hair that is not perfectly in place.
Keri Russell has PGH! Remember her Felicity-fro days!?
Well Keri, when it comes to taming big hair, we feel you. And we stand by your decision to wear a messy, swept-up bun to this event! We hope you do it again soon. Rock on with your bun.

I’m not so crazy about Nicole Richie’s dress, but her hair is a different story. Side braids are really trendy right now! We first saw side braids appear on the runways this season, and now celebs, like Selena Gomez and LC ,are sporting the look left and right. It’s an easy, fun and very bohemian-chic style.
Curly girls – I suggest braiding your hair while it’s still damp. Use a drop or two of silicon smoothing balm or leave-in conditioner to control frizz. Lately, I’ve been using It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Treatment and I’m liking it. This product really helps make PGH more manageable.
Happy Side Braiding!

To get the Keratin treatment…or not….that is the question! I know I’ve toyed with the idea, but for some reason, haven’t been able to pull the trigger. Probably because Keratin does not come cheap.
Well, one Brazilian beauty company has come up with a solution – an affordable new product line, which incorporates Keratin to restore shine and silkiness and revitalize dry and damaged hair at a fraction of the cost.
The company is nuNAAT and the product line is called Karite Special. The new line includes a creamy shampoo, conditioner, intensive mask, anti-frizz leave-in treatment and a combing cream.
The products cost about $6 or $7 each…not too shabby! For more info check out nunaat.com.

I’m in love with this headband for spring! Check out the L. Erickson Beaded Cosmo Headband. This headband is made with 100% silk. The beaded flower sits just above your hairline and is made with glass beads. Very elegant, yet artsy…and best yet, affordable. This piece could be yours for just $42. It’s a steal if you ask me.
