Over the weekend I met with the professionals at Dermacare, a laser and skin clinic down the street from my apartment in Miami, and finally made a big decision….I signed up for laser hair removal!
This is something I have been contemplating forever. The main reason I decided to give it a go is because I get really bad in-grown hairs. I think it comes with PGH territory. I’ve tried every product on the market and nothing seems to help. The bumps are embarrassing and don’t ever go away for good.
I am going to document my experience here on PGH. And please note that I am paying every dollar for the treatment, so my review is going to be completely unbiased.
Have you had laser hair removal…down there…before? Please leave a comment with any advice. I’m going to need it!
I was shopping around Target yesterday and happened to stumble upon some of their new shampoo and conditioner. I thought Aveeno was all about skin, but I thought wrong.
Aveeno makes four different types of shampoo and conditioner blends, as well as a leave-in treatment. This innovative line of products combines the best of nature with the proof of science to meet the specific needs of different hair types. Made with a breakthrough ACTIVE NATURALS® Wheat Complex formula, these products nourish damaged hair back to life in just three washes (or so their website says!)
I say try before you buy! Click here for your free sample.

Seems like the half-shaved head is now becoming a trend all thanks to Cassie. And I must say, I think certain celebs can pull it off. When I first read that Carmen Electra had joined the club, I wasn’t too surprised. I mean, c’mon…If you ever watched an episode of Carmen and Dave Navarro’s reality show, “Till Death Do Us Part, you know what I mean. She’s a wild child!!
Who else joined the club? Lala from MTV. I wonder who’s next?!
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Farrah Fawcett today. The legendary actress, beauty, and hair icon passed away today, at age 62, after her long battle with cancer. We are happy she is in peace and we will keep her loved ones in our hearts.

Not gonna lie, when I first read this article about Bull Semen (yes, that’s correct…Bull Semen) on Naturallycurly.com, I got a little grossed out.
The Aberdeen Organic Bull Sperm Treatment is a real service currently being offered at Hari’s, a 30-year old London salon that prides itself on offering some of London’s most exciting new treatments sourced from around the world.
Also known as “Viagra for Hair,” this 45-minute treatment ranges from £55 to £85 ($90-$138 U.S.) and uses semen from Aberdeen Angus bulls. Hari’s combines the sperm with the root of the protein-rich plant Katera. The protein-enriched potion is massaged into the client’s hair after it has been shampooed. Then the client is put under heat so the treatment penetrates the hair. The final step is the blow out, which gives the hair an a body and shine.
If this trend ever makes it’s way to the U.S., it will have to be offered under a code name! The Bull Sperm Treatment just doesn’t sound appealing. For now, I’m sticking to my deep conditioner.
All of you know that Amanda and I are real-deal Pantene Pro-V fans. Their Curls mousse is our favorite product to use. Please take a few moments to view an amazing commercial brought to you by Pantene. It is very moving and an excellent way to advertise, if you ask me. If all commercials were more like this one, I wouldn’t feel the need to use TiVo so often!

If you want to know how Maggie Gyllenhaal keeps her hair healthy, read on. People.com just let her secret out of the bag!
Maggie is a fan of the moisturizing shampoo and intensive hair mask from MALIN + GOETZ. The nutrient-rich shampoo locks in moisture naturally as it cleans, while the 5-minute mask revives even the most stressed tresses, $25 each.
We hear that Michelle Williams likes this stuff too!

We just got word that Garnier Fructis will launch a new line this July called Triple Nutrition. The line will include a shampoo, conditioner and treatment product that targets moisture-starved hair but with an aim to add life to it, not simply moisturize locks.
Triple Nutrition formulas contain three oils — olive, shea and avocado — which work together and aim to nourish hair. The Dryness Reversal Treatment, a three-minute leave-in conditioner, is formulated with crushed apricot seeds to exfoliate the hair shaft. The shampoo and conditioner will sell for $3.99 each; the treatment will sell for $5.99.
I’m not a huge fan of Garnier Fructis, but perhaps I’ll give this new line a try. Remeber – curly hair needs to stay moisturized!

Every time I take a trip, I am always forced to check a bag because my hair product bottles are more than 3 ounces. I just suck it up and pay $15 each way just so that I can have good hair while traveling. Well, I’ve had enough! I need to start buying travel-size hair products.
I did a search on Google and believe it or not, they’re not that easy to find. There’s very few brands that make travel-size bottles, so you’re usually stuck with whatever the drugstore has.
I was almost ready to quit but then I went on to Ebay and did a search. Eureka! More than 50 items came up, including brands like Matrix, Bumble and Bumble, Big Sexy Hair, L’Occitane, and Fekkai.
Also – DevaCurl makes a complete travel kit. It’s normally about $30 (the cost of checking a bag there and back) but I found it on Amazon for $17.50. Not bad.
Know of any other places or websites to buy carry-on approved hair products? Leave a comment and let us know…thanks!
