New site alert!
I just stumbled upon a site called ModCloth.com which has some great hair accessories. Seems like bows and feathers are still in.
The headband pictured is called Bow-quet. Pink roses and periwinkle blooms adorn a simple ivory bow to create a vintage-inspired style you’ll adore. Pair it with a sun dress for frolics through your favorite thrift stores.
I’m sure Blair Waldorf could been seen sporting a much more expensive version of this.

My sister got married over Labor Day Weekend in beautiful Blowing Rock, North Carolina. Since the weather there right now is 65 degrees and sunny, I thought a blow-out was the way to go. We actually hired a really cool hairstylist to come to the resort. Her name was Celia and she was amazing, and not to mention in her early 20′s. She used a new method to make sure my hair was straight but still had volume. The end result came out very natural and elegant. This is how you can recreate my wedding hair:
1. Divide soaking wet hair into sections
2. Blow-dry using a round brush starting with back sections
3. Once each section is dry, run a straightening iron over hair once or twice
4. Curl hair under (like your using a roller) and pin
5. Move to next section and repeat steps
Once all the sections were done, Celia removed the clips and I let my mane down! My hair was full and straight with a tad curl at the ends. She then pulled back the front pieces and secured with several bobby pins.
I was really happy with how my hair turned out. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding two years ago and I got the worst up-do ever. My hair was a giant frizzball my the end of the night.
So, take my advice. If you have thick hair, don’t try to pile it all on your head. A more natural approach is always best for weddings.

Eva Mendes wore a thick black Dolce and Gabbana headband to the 66th Venice International Film Festival. You can easily (and for a lot less money) recreate Eva’s look with this similar headband from Arden B.

The news broke a couple weeks ago but I just saw behind the scenes footage of her new music video…and wow! She looks really great as a blonde. I’m totally diggin this new, bad girl look. Happy September 1st! Woah, did this year fly by or what!? Fall is just around the corner so we thought we’d put out our Fall ’09 Hair Trend Forecast.
1. Bangs are back! If you decided to experiment with a new set set of fringe last season, think twice before growing them out too soon. If you want to change up your look, try sweeping them to the side.
2. Long locks. Cutting off a few inches to beat the summer heat is a no-brainer. Now that cooler temps are on their way, it’s time to let your locks grow and stick to “just a trim” when visiting the salon.
3. Natural color. With the recession and all, we predict more ladies will be sticking with a color very close to their natural color. Root touch-ups can get pricey!
4. Blow-outs. Beachy waves will be saved for lazy days. For a night out on the town or for a special event, we’ll start to see more blow-outs roaming the streets. Check out this Modern Salon article for some great tips on brushing up on your blow-out skills.
5. Dramatic cuts. We don’t expect many Lady Gaga copycats, but edgy statement cuts are in! We’re keepin’ a watchful eye on Rihanna to see what’s next on her hair to-do list.

On hot humid days, a messy bun is just the trick for on-the-go gals. This look is actually much easier to create with thick hair than thin. We have the perfect solution for dressing up your messy bun – a pretty hair piece.
We like this hair pic from France Luxe. This beautiful piece simply slips into the side of your messy bun and creates an elegant, more put together look.
Want an even easier solution? Try a decorative ponytail holder. We love Brighton’s selection, like this Garden Bloom Ponytail Holder which comes in a couple different colors. When styling your messy bun, pull out a couple pieces in front and secure the rest of your hair back using a decorative hair tie. View the entire Brighton collection here.

Not sure this would work on my hair but wanted to share because I know many curlies are fans of Ouidad’s products. My hair takes about 15 minutes to style and diffuse, but if that’s too long for you, you may want to give this a try.

We just got word that singer Melody Thornton of the Pussycat Dolls stopped by the LA based salon, Parlour on 3rd to meet with stylist, Robear Landeros. The high-end salon just revealed their “Old Hollywood” style makeover. If you want to recreate Melody’s ‘do, here are the steps to try out at home. But let me tell you, this does not sound like a quick and easy process. You may want to consult a pro if it’s for a big night out
1. After shampooing with nou nou shampoo & conditioner by Davines, Landeros blow dried her hair with a paddle brush to get hair it straight
2. Then he used 1 1/4″ FHI curling iron to curl her hair.
3. Landeros then alternated the curl pattern (1 row up 1 row under) and pinned each curl with a metal 1/2″ inch clip to set the curl in place, thus giving it amazing volume!
4. Lastly, Landeros removed all the clips and used a drop of the Glorifying shimmering drops by Davines and rubbed in the palm of his hands and ran them through her hair – fingering out her curls not combing.
