The Morning After

It’s Saturday night…your hair looks great, that new dress fits just right, and your dancing shoes are ready to take you through the night. You party the night away and have a fabulous time. The next morning, hair all over your face, groggy and most likely hungover, you take a deep breath and inhale the lovely smells of……1,000 old ashtrays?!

I hate leaving a club or bar only to discover that the club has left with me, in my hair. Especially when I just washed it right before! Not only is it bad to wash your hair everyday, but it’s a pain in my boo-tay as well! But the smell of last night’s ashtray is not one that I care to inhale all day long. So, what to do? Get your hands on some hair perfume!

We all use perfume to make our bodies smell fresh, so why not do the same to our hair? One of my good friends introduced me to Jonathan Redo–this product freshens up dirty hair and leaves a nice, clean scent behind (Jonathan is the creator of many other beauty products, too). I love it because the scent is not overpowering at all and it can also be used on my skin! Find it at your local beauty supply store or Sephora.

Anyone else got hair perfume recommendations?

As an African-American woman, I can tell you I have this problem ALL THE TIME. Most of “us”, find ourselves washing our hair only once a week as to not dry it out excessively. Which means depending on what day we get our hair washed and then decide to go to the club, we have to deal with smelly hair. In the past, I’ve found that Victoria Secret’s Body Spray will do the trick, but it’s nice to know there is actually a product on the market made just for smelly hair that’s not quite ready to be washed.

i have thin hair which gets that oily smell if I don’t wash it for one day. So, I started using hair perfume about a year ago and it works wonders! It lasts all day and can totally revitalize your hair. Just like a regular perfume, everyone has a preference on what they like. I use Black Orchid (I think by Tom Ford) and you can find it in Sephora. But, you can’t spray more than one spritz or it is overbearing – take it from my roommates!
