I used TIGI’s Curls Rock Amplifier for the first time this weekend and I’m in love! Yes ladies, this product is amazing.

I’ve been on the hunt for a new everyday curly hair product ever since Pantene Pro-V Mousse for Curly Hair started giving me flakes. So I decided to go out on a limb and give Curls Rock Amplifier a chance. I was, and still am, totally impressed.

This product is enhances your natural texture, which is great for girls like me who don’t have very defined curls – but crave them. I used about 4-5 pumps of product on soaking wet hair. After diffusing, my hair didn’t feel sticky or crunchy. I was ready to head out for night with soft, defined, touchable curls. Because it’s so humid out, I did use a little bit of hairspray on the ends, but that’s it.

I’m excited now to try other products in the Curls Rock collection. I definitely recommend Amplifier for girls with think, frizz-prone hair, who need definition and taming. Stay tuned for more reviews!

Ever hear of Russian Amber Imperial Shampoo? It’s actually been raved about by Vogue, Lucky Magazine, and REDBOOK beauty director Cheryl Kramer Kaye and beauty editor Krista Bennett DeMaio declared it a “Most Valuable Product.” But a 1.8 oz bottle will cost you $140! It is a multiple-award-winning shampoo, but still!? Could you bring yourself to spend this much? Don’t know about you but now I’m curious…

Thankfully, a surfer babe in La Jolla Shores, California, Lauren Otonicar, felt similarly and so she created the Tonic hair care line. I’ve spent a couple weeks with Tonic in my shower and only have good things to say about the brand. Well, that happened to me when I discovered evolve’s combs and brushes. I’m pretty picky about the products that I use in my hair — even down to the combs and brushes (what a diva I am, right? I know).

The least invasive and probably easiest method to create beach curls is simple braiding. Start with damp or wet hair, and braid into a single braid or several chunky braids. Let hair completely dry – typically overnight – and undo the braid. Voila! – instant beach waves. Smooth flyaways with oil, butter or moisturizing crème.

For shorter curls, try pincurls or knots to achieve a similar braid-effect.

Use large rollers at the ends to achieve a more voluptuous wave.

For a looser curl, try a Keratin treatment (a smoothing, not straightening process). Though hair will appear straighter at first, simply add your usual styling product and blow dry with a diffuser while scrunching hair.

Celebrity stylist Ken Paves is launching a new collection of professional haircare products in June for damaged hair called Self-Help: Care of Ken Paves. The products are designed to get color-treated hair back into tip top shape.

The line includes a sulfate-free shampoo, conditioner, deep nourishing balm, color-boosting finishing product, volumizing glosser, styling mist and holding hairspray. All of these are designed to give you the look you crave while restoring your hair back to health.

Well, one Brazilian beauty company has come up with a solution – an affordable new product line, which incorporates Keratin to restore shine and silkiness and revitalize dry and damaged hair at a fraction of the cost.

Since it’s actually been cold in Miami, I’ve been wearing my hair straight a lot. It’s a nice change to not have to wash it everyday. I can go several days even! See, PGH isn’t so bad after all.

But finding the right products is key to maintaining straight, frizz-free locks. I polled two girlfriends who I have known for over 10 years and both battle daily with PGH.  Here’s what they recommended:

The Chi product line. This brand is probably most well-known for their amazing flat irons. But they also make some great products for straightening your hair. Personally, I’ve tried the Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray and I really like to use it on my ends to make sure they don’t fry off from 400+ degrees of heat.

My other girlfriend swears by all things Redken…well, before she started getting the Keratin treatments to tame her mane. Products to try: The Iron Silk Straightening Spray, the Smooth Down Detangling Spray, as well as the Smooth Down Conditioner. I used to use Redken many years ago but haven’t given the brand another chance. Think it might be time to.
